Indianapolis Trip!

We finally made it out to Indiana to visit Jared & Jane and Leah & Shay (+ baby Cameron)!  We got to see and do so many fun things, but the best part was hanging with some of our favorites :)

We woke up at 3:30 am to catch our flight.  Sadie fell asleep on the landing of our first leg and slept for a total of 15 minutes and didn't sleep again. :(

Sadie's face... haha, "Get me outta here!"
Brady held Cameron while we waited for Shay to get home from work.  It was basically like holding Shay ;)
Sadie was pretty sick for most of the trip with some stomach issues.  Poor girl was tough and went along with most of the activities we had planned.  We spent one night and a couple days in Chicago.  I was so impressed with this city!  It had a beautiful skyline and the parks, statues, river, and history throughout were awesome.
We were banished to the back of the party van

Our little family went up the Willis Tower (Leah and I like to call it "Big Willy").  Holy smokes, that building is high!  It was a little trippy looking out the window and seeing so far below.  I'll admit, I think I'm a little afraid of heights.  This building has a few sky decks where you can walk out onto glass so you can see straight below you.  It was hard for me to look down!  One little girl in front of us had a meltdown and I didn't blame her :)  I think my favorite view from up top was Lake Michigan.  I never realized how huge that lake is.  We couldn't see the other side.

We saw the famous "Bean" as well.  Pretty cool structure.  Sadie loved looking at herself in the reflection... like Daddy, like daughter ;)

I think this is such a sweet picture of Leah and Sadie <3
A memorable moment in Chicago was when Sadie threw up in the middle of the city on the sidewalk.  Poor girl had to be pant-less for awhile til we could go to Baby Gap to get her a new pair of leggings.  One couple walked passed us and said, "See that little girl?  She's just in her diaper, it's really cold out!"  No doy.  I think she did it on purpose to get some new clothes ;)

There was a beautiful beach area that we walked to.  The sand was nice and you could basically reach out to touch the city.  I wish we could have spent more time there but it was getting pretty chilly and there was a crazy lady who we kind of wanted to get away from.  She kept getting rocks/smooth pieces of glass to give to Sadie.  She walked straight into the water in her slippers and pants to get them. Needless to say, I stayed pretty close to Sadie... the lady was nice, just a little tipsy.

We walked down to the Navy Pier which was really cool, especially at night.  The moon and the skyline were beautiful.  We ate at Giordano's and had their deep dish "Chicago stlye" pizza... it was delicious!  So good.

Sorry Leah, this was the only one where everyone's eyes were closed.  Yours just happened to be kinda crazy looking! ;)

little cutie pie!
By the end of the night, we were all pooped.  Especially us girls.  Jane is 5 weeks ahead of me in her pregnancy and Leah's baby boy is 2 months old.  I was always at the back of the line when we were walking :(

The next day, we explored the Chicago zoo.  It was gigantic!  And free! How cool is that?  We spent a few hours there.  My pregnant body hurt after this Chicago trip... so. much. walking!

Jared is going to be the best dad.  Though Sadie was a little timid now and then, she still loved him lots :)

Giraffe!

Having lunch at a cool cafe right by the zoo.  Holding mini Shay ;)
It took us forever to get back to Indianapolis that night.  I've never seen such bad traffic!  And of course, Sadie was having some major stomach pain... so lots of screaming ensued :(

On Saturday, we went to Jared and Jane's baby shower.  I felt so lucky and honored that I could be in town for them!  They are going to be the best parents to their sweet little girl.  I can't wait to meet her and to see them as parents!  It was so fun to talk to Jane about our pregnancies and our future babies that we haven't met yet.  Baby girl Plank is one lucky girl for sure.

Twinsies

Three of my favorite babies :)
That night, we went to downtown Indianapolis and walked along the canal that goes through part of the city.  It's so fun to see all the cool places that my siblings like to go.

This is the White River that feeds into the canal

Sisters... we're sisters!

brother friends
On Sunday, Brady stayed home from church with Sadie because she had a really rough night.  I got to meet some of Leah's friends in her ward and one black lady kissed me on the cheek because she thought I was Jane.  We're both white and pregnant, so the mix-up makes sense ;)
I also got to listen to Leah's Gospel Doctrine lesson and she rocked it.  She's a natural teacher.  I held Cam for most of the lesson, so I enjoyed the snuggle session too!  That night, Brady made his yummy pork chops stuffed with ghouda, apple, and bacon in celebration of Leah and Jared's October birthdays.  After dinner, we went to the Indianapolis Temple and walked around.  It was really beautiful!  I wish we had time to do a session there.

Sadie loves her baby cousin :)

Woah, Sadie!

Sadie was a little indifferent toward Cameron when we first got there, but she warmed up within a day or two.  When she woke up in the morning, I would say, "Sadie, do you want to see Cameron?" Her face would light up and she'd say, "yeah!"  She says his name, "Amron."  Anytime his binkie was left on the coffee table, she would bring it to Leah.  She tried her hardest to be a good helper, even though it was probably annoying sometimes :)
It was a sweet experience for Brady and I to watch her interact with him because we're going to have a baby boy soon!  I think she'll be a great big sister.

Sadie kept singing, "Rock-a-bye Baby" to Cameron.  It was pretty cute!
After church selfie :)

Leah's birthday was on Monday.  We planned our trip so that we could be there for her special day.... and boy, was it special! ;)  We went to Turkey Run State Park and hiked through some beautiful trails.  The leaves were pretty vibrant and colorful.  Leah and Shay made up a game where you compete against each other to see who can catch the most leaves as they're falling from the trees.  When the wind started to blow, it was a pretty funny sight to see all of us sprinting and striking the air trying to catch the leaves.  I think Shay and Brady were the winners most of the time.  Cheaters.

Oh, a fun side note: on our way to the park, we had to stop at a rest stop to change Sadie's diarrhea diaper.  We were there for about 25 minutes and we changed her diaper three times... poor girl.  But the third and final time she had diarrhea, I was holding her and as Brady took her to into the bathroom I looked down at my legs and realized she had pooped on me!  It was pretty disgusting.  We all got back in the car and I smelled more diarrhea and I said, "Shoot, is Sadie poopy again?" and Jane said, "No, I think it's just you".  Haha, yeah I smelled like diarrhea the rest of the trip.  Thank goodness we were outside and the wind took away the smell :(
And why the heck didn't I get new pants like Sadie did?!

For Leah's birthday dinner that night, we went to a burger place called Bru.  Leah hyped this place up a ton and we were not disappointed!  It was super yummy... and I consider myself a burger connoisseur ;)

Good thing I'm a nice sister and didn't put up the pic where Leah looks like she has no neck... hehe!
I was so happy to spend Leah's bday with her.  There's only been 1 birthday that I can think of where I didn't celebrate with her... not counting the one that I wasn't born for ;)
She's my best friend and I'm so glad we're close.  It was the best to see her "mothering" in action.  She loves Cameron so much and I am so happy that she gets to be a mommy!  She's the best and a great example to me.

On Tuesday, we met up with Jane and went to a cute restaurant called "The Three Sisters."  The restaurant was an old house and we ate on the deck.  I really enjoyed it there.  Then, we went back to Leah's house to hang out til we had to leave for our flight back to SLC.
Like I said before, we did a ton of cool activities, but it was the best to just to be with my family.  We're excited to live in the same state with Leah and Shay one day and hopefully live within a day's drive of Jared and Jane too.  They're all awesome and I love them mucho.

Goodbye Indiana!  Not sure if we'll ever see you again :)
