We went with Leah and Shay and had a great time. Even when Shay led us around Cabo San Lucas for an hour trying to find a perfect restaurant without any white people haha. Jk Shay, you da best bro! We spent most of our time at different beaches in and around Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. It was fun to explore so much! We definitely appreciated not having our kids with us. It was incredibly relaxing to just sit on the beach and not chase Sadie and Graham around! Granted, we missed them terribly... but we needed this trip for us. Our hotel was a ways away from the beach so we decided to hike along this large hill in the backyard of the hotel for a mini sunset. Shay found a cactus flower thing that he wanted to make into a popsicle as a joke and he got like 10 splinters in his finger. Poor guy.
We decided to explore Cabo San Lucas on Saturday because it was supposed to be an overcast and rainy day. We wanted to get our shopping done. Let me tell ya, negotiating was the hardest thing! Brady and I had a few arguments over how it should be done. Haha.

Leah and I wanted a mani/pedi and Shay and Brady wanted a massage so we thought this rainy day would be perfect. By the time we found a place, it was pouring down rain. We mainly wanted shelter at this point! It was quite the storm. So, of course, we found the sketchiest salon. I'd like to blame Shay again... since he's the one who went in to ask about prices. Haha ;) We walk in, and it's dark and gloomy. I noticed the collection of nail colors was very dismal. I am not a confrontational person, so I never said anything. But I really wish I had! They led Leah and I to the back room. It was dirty, cluttered and stuffy. The chairs we went to sit in were old and frayed and I noticed the pedicure "bucket" was lined in dirt. Why the crap didn't I say anything!?! Leah and I looked at each other with a glance that said, "oh boy.. this is not what we wanted." They literally warmed our water up in a microwave... and the water was still just lukewarm. The whole process took forever. It was torture. When the nail polish was finally painted on, it looked like Sadie had done it. It looked horrible! Brady and Shay said their massages were mediocre at best. I think Shay said there was a leak in his ceiling. When we walked out, the road was now filled with water. It was a raging river! We had to slodge through it to get back to the car. Thankfully I didn't care about my stupid freshly painted toe nails! Haha.
My favorite day was Sunday. We went to church in Cabo San Lucas and afterward headed down to the pier to find a water taxi to take us out to see the different beaches that are only accessible via boats. We saw El Arco and were impressed with the boat drivers' skills. It got a little crazy! We wanted the taxi to drop us off at Lovers Beach so we could walk over to Divorce beach, but for whatever reason they weren't dropping people off there. Maybe the water was too turbulent. We ended up going to another beach closer to the mainland and hung out for a couple hours.
Afterward, we hiked to the top of Mount Somar and had a beautiful view of Cabo San Lucas as well as the Pacific Ocean. I even cut my leg a little bit on some cactus. :)
Since the water taxis weren't dropping people off at Lovers Beach, it was completely empty. We could see the beach from the top of the mountain and decided to try to scramble our way down to the beach. It was a little sketchy in areas, but we made it down and we had the beach to ourselves. It was magical. Seriously. I could have spent my entire vacation on that beach watching the waves. The waves were massive and so strong. You're not allowed to swim on this beach and we could see why! It was crazy and super cool to watch.
Brady and I ended up going back there the last day of our trip after Leah and Shay left. We explored a little more and I fell in love even more with that beach. I told Brady that if we go back to this area, we have to stay on the resort on Divorce beach. I'd be in heaven!
We went to the "Melty Cheese" restaurant as we liked to call it a couple times. It seemed that it was run by a family with a few young teenage boys as the waiters and bus boys. I really liked the ambiance of that restaurant. Very clean and homey. Brady and Shay ordered this amazing meal that was basically meat and cheese served with tortillas. It was delicious. We had to go back so Leah and I could order the same dish. Another night, we went to kind of a ghetto joint. The food was really delicious though and our waiter was really kind and friendly. La Policia joined us halfway through with their big guns. They sat at the table right next to us, so I tried not to make eye contact with them. They looked so scary! They even had a few men stand outside as guards while the rest ate their dinner.
One day, we drove out to Cabo Pulmo which is supposed to be one of the best beaches for snorkeling. It was a super windy day so the waves were a bit crazy. Even just standing on the beach was uncomfortable. Sand was pelting us, so we sought shelter around a bend of rocks. Brady and Shay snorkeled for a little bit but the waves were too strong and dangerous. We ended up walking along the beach for awhile. Leah and Shay collected a bunch of sea shells throughout the trip and Brady and I just watched them haha.
Oh, before we got to the beach, we stopped for lunch at this restaurant. The service was pretty slow. I think we were there for over an hour and a half and it wasn't very busy. Thankfully the food was yummy though! At one point, Leah and I had to use the restroom so we walked over to who I assume is the manager of the restaurant. I stuttered out, "donde esta el bano?" She didn't look up from what she was doing and said in a gruff voice, "rojo!". Leah and I looked at each other with confused faces and looked around at anything red. We looked at the lady again hoping she would give us more direction than just a color and she pointed outside. The bathroom was a red building out back. She could have been nicer!
We also spent a day going to La Paz. The water there was magic. So clear and turquoise and you could walk out forever it seemed. The temperature was really nice too. We went to swim in it but realized we were getting stung by tiny jelly fish! Once I realized that, I booked it out of there.
On the way back from La Paz, we stopped to watch the sunset off the Pacific Ocean. Brady and Shay had a blast jumping in the waves. They're such little boys! Leah and I were definitely entertained watching them :)
The last day that we were all together, (Leah and Shay left a day earlier than Brady and me) we went to Santa Maria beach. This is the first day that I went snorkeling and it was pretty cool! The water was cold, though, so I didn't last long. When fish got too close to me, I'd kind of groan within my face mask and tense up. Haha, I'm a little embarrassed of myself sometimes. Leah and Shay were nice enough to go grab some Dominos Pizza for us! Nothing like Dominos on the beach in Mexico, ya know?! We've wanted to vacation with Leah and Shay for a long time and we're so glad it finally happened! I love my sister and love spending time with her. And Brady and Shay are such good buddies. Until next time!
Brady and I had one last day together just the two of us. We went to Divorce beach again (like I mentioned before). When we were exploring, we climbed across the rocks that led to the other side of the beach that you can't see. This side has some really fancy resorts and we felt like commoners coming onto the rich people's land. Especially since we were barefoot and empty handed. :)
Later, we went to Chileno beach and read our books on the beach. We went snorkeling here too and one fish basically swam into Brady's face. As long as it wasn't my face!
That night, we went to the public market area in San Jose del Cabo. It was the art night, so we walked around looking at some cool art pieces. We ended up going to an Italian restaurant. We got a little sick of Mexican food toward the end! :) Oh and we got a huge bag of churros that we totally wasted. We each ate one. What a shame and a waste!
We loved this vacation and the time we had together! It was hard being away from our kids for so long so the reunion was sweet. Brady and I ran inside to greet our kids. Sadie was excited to see us and Brady picked her up. Graham started crawling toward us as fast as he could. He started to cry because he was so emotional! I held him for a long time, and he would snuggle against my chest, then look at my face to make sure it was me. He did this several times- back and forth. We missed our babies!
